Autumn 1 - Black History Week

In Year 2 we focused on the life and achievements of Floella Benjamin. Floella was born in Trinidad and came to England in 1960 at the age of ten. After finishing school, she began working in theatres following her passion to sing and dance. She later became well known for her work on TV in a children's series called Playschool. As well as her work on TV she is involved with lots of children's charities and raises both awareness and money for them. She has been awarded an OBE and a Damehood. The children enjoyed a week of fun activities including sequencing her life on a time-line, making carnival masks and having a class carnival, roleplay, art and dance.
