Year 1 have been busy exploring different artists and techniques as part of BAME week. The children used water colour techniques to create backgrounds for a pastel picture of astronaut Mae Jemison. Then we explored the work of Faith Ringgold. Faith drew on fabrics to create pictures and artwork. We drew faces and people on fabric using one of Faith's pieces as an inspiration. Finally we explored collage through Brianna McCarthy. She used collage to layer up shapes to create faces. We made our own face collages in the style of Brianna McCarthy.
