Year 1 have been learning about Mary Seacole during Black History Month. We looked at clues to work out who she might be and concluded that she was a nurse. We learnt all about her life and completed two types of timelines to show the events in her life. During the afternoon we created some freeze frame images to tell the story of her life. Click here to see some of the pictures from our day. The rest of the week we completed cross curricular activities linked to Jamaica; the country that Mary Seacole was born in. We learnt where in the world Jamaica is, we listened to and learnt a song by Bob Marley and completed some art work using the colours of the Jamaican flag.
