To support the children to understand their emotions we have introduced 'Feelings Flowers' across school. Everyday children will have time to 'check in' and talk about how they are feeling and why they feel that way. Every child has a peg, that they place on the flower that best represents how they feel. Adults can then support children if needed and help them to learn to manage and understand their emotions.
In Reception we spent time in our Family Groups talking about the different emotions and how it makes us feel both physically and emotionally. We recorded this in our floor books with the children drawing pictures and mark making.
