Is yeast a living thing?

Year 6 enjoyed investigating if yeast is a living thing in their Science lesson.

Children mixed sugar and yeast and we found out that sugar is nutrition for yeast. Yeast consumes the sugar and produces carbon dioxide, which made our balloons inflate.
