Telling the Time

In Year 3, we have been learning to tell the time using analogue clocks. We learnt o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. The children understood that there are 60 minutes in 1 hour and using this information to tell the time 'past' the hour. Using the analogue clocks helped the children recognise the minute hand and the hour hand. As well as this, we looked at different units of time - seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years. The children were very excited that this year is a leap year, which means we have 366 days instead of 365. A great learning week on time!
